Project Description

The client was referred to us by one of our other clients and originally approached us looking for a solution to their privacy concerns for their 25 year old landscape in one of the steeper areas of Boulder. They were also interested in fencing off their front yard for the safety of their dogs and creating a secluded seating area to enjoy their front yard.

We were able to create privacy for our client by terracing the sloped side of their yard going uphill and installing a wooden fence along the perimeter. To retain the hillside and create planting beds to install trees for screening we installed moss rock boulders and curved steel walls with a path connecting to the small patio and pond by the house. This path continues all the way around to the street through a dense foliage patch of sumac that helps to screen the view from the road. Along the road is an intricately crafted custom steel fence complete with gate and mailbox that opens to a flagstone path lined with path lights to guide guests towards the home.

For the client’s secluded sitting spot, we were able to install raised planter beds for vegetable gardens and a compacted grit patio tucked away in the back with access to the alley way next to their home.
