Sometimes when winter temperatures occur early in the fall or late in the spring, it may be necessary to drain the water from parts of your irrigation system such as your backflow and valve manifold. Rather than blow out the entire system like we do near the beginning of winter, if your system is still on or has been activated again for the spring it is a common and smart practice to turn off the water supply to your irrigation system and drain as much water as possible out of the most sensitive parts of your system. The tutorial video above will walk you through how to drain your backflow and valve manifold and provide you with knowledge that could save you thousands of dollars when that cold snap comes through. Remember: not all irrigation systems are the same and this video may not describe your exact setup. If you need additional assistance, always feel free to reach out to the LID Landscapes team and we would be more than happy to assist you!
